Caring for your print

Your piece is 3D-printed in PLA — a rigid plastic that holds fine detail beautifully and will last for years indoors. A little care keeps it looking the way it did the day it came out of the box.

Keep it cool

This is the one that actually matters. PLA softens at around 60°C, which a parked car in summer reaches easily. Keep your print out of direct sunlight, off radiators and out of hot cars. If you need something for outdoor or high-heat use, ask us about ASA or PETG — we print both.

Dust it gently

A soft dry brush — a clean paintbrush or makeup brush is ideal — gets into the fenestrae and between the teeth. For a deeper clean, a barely damp cloth with a drop of dish soap is fine. Let it dry fully.

Avoid acetone, alcohol, solvents and abrasive cleaners. They will haze or melt the surface.

Handle from the base

Lift larger skulls by the cranium or the base, not by the jaw, teeth or crest. The thin areas are thin on purpose — that is what makes them look real — and they are the first thing to go if the piece is picked up by the wrong end.

Displaying it

Anywhere out of direct sun. A shelf, a desk, a cabinet. Bone and Brown finishes read best against a dark background; Black and Gray read best against a light one.

Small parts and pets

Articulated toys, small pieces and loose jaws are not suitable for young children. The flexi lizard cat toy is designed for cats — but like any cat toy, replace it once it is been chewed apart.

If something breaks

PLA glues well with cyanoacrylate (superglue). A clean break usually disappears completely. If it is worse than that, get in touch — we can often reprint just the broken part.
